History of The Hostel

The hostel concept was established in 1912 in Germany by a teacher named Richard Schirmann. What began as converting regular classrooms into dormitories for visiting classes on lengthy trips has become a preferred economical, yet adventurous place of rest for travellers all over the world. Although hostels have come a long way since its founding, dormitory-style living has remained the standard layout. Most hostels today include private rooms for more privacy and comfort. Travellers staying for longer periods of time may find this option more conveniant. Of course, travellers just passing through and wanting to meet new people can look forward to a dorm room. The Roadrunner Hostel & Inn

Welcome all travelers! Our hostel is located in the downtown area, and is just a short walk from Tucson's favorite restaurants, cafes, bars, art galleries, night clubs, music venues, and stores. Free shuttle rides are available throughout the downtown area which pick up and drop off right in front of the Roadrunner Hostel. Maps are available at the Roadrunner Hostel & Inn, or check out this link to Ticet buses.

"Your desert home away from home" is a rich melting pot of international travelers seeking to explore the Tucson region and outward. We keep a warm and all around friendly atmosphere where friends are easily made. For many years, Bakpak Guide and Lonely Planet have spoken highly of the Roadrunner Hostel's estut service and exceptionally clean facilities. It isn't surprising that many of the same guests have returned year after year.
